I'm not a fan of the disaster genre, but this one went in a direction that I hadn't expected so I was fairly entertained by it over all. The special effects, although over-the-top, were certainly enjoyable to watch. I give it a passing grade, which is pretty good for me with this type of movie.

Over-the-top doesn't describe it. And very poor acting. I give it a 5 out of 10. That's being generous.

I also like watching movies where animals go awry. Back in the 70s, there were tons of them. Just about any animal that you can imagine would go on the rampage and attack people. A couple that stand out were Frogs, with a young Sam Elliott, and Day of the Animals, with Leslie Nielson.

Remember "Food of the Gods"?

I loved that one.

Haven't seen that one yet, but just looked it up and it looked AWESOME. I went straight to Netflix and, alas, it hasn't been released on DVD yet.

There is one called Gnaw: Food of the Gods 2. That one is on DVD, so at least I put it in queue.

Thanks for the tip!

I remember "Frogs" too. There was a picture of a frog with a guys hand hanging out of his mouth. That freaked me out when I was a kid.

Man, I love cheesy horror flicks.

I've seen Frogs and Food of the Gods......both in theaters. :-P

There was a theater I went to as a kid that always showed those b movies.

What was the one with giant ants that had Joan Collins in it? Too lazy to google it.

Edit: My curiosity got the better of me....Empire of the Ants. Quality flick right there.

Oh okay

well the acting was awful

it had cuzak

the plot was laughable

they kept on showing the same plane lifting off as runway collapses around them scene

the special effects I do not think were good. i didn't think i was watching something happen like that, i thought i was watching CGI

nothing seemed fresh, it was all the same Poo we've seen in disaster movies, just putting it all in one

it took too long for the earth to be destroyed (movie to be over)

so Sacrebleu you joe

same... I took it as "I can out disaster YOUR disaster movie!11111!!"

I enjoyed it. Especially when they'd cut to some ridiculous expression and I burst out laughing (i.e. the stupid stepdad flying the plane). Or they kept doing essentially the same scene over and over again (driving around just in time! taking off just in time!). Russian billionaires bellyflopping into oblivion. John Cusack and Woody Harrelson. Whats not to like?

It felt like a disaster movie filmmaker making a parody of disaster movies. Whether that was intentional or not, I don't know.

best movie I've seen in recent times... Zombieland.

That was a laugh riot from beginning to end.
